It Doesn’t Have to Stay Like That

There's always a point in a build where somebody changes their mind. It might come quite early. "We're making a tower." Then it needs another entrance, then something underneath becomes a café, and before long, the tower appears to have been quietly forgotten. Time to go with the flow as children don't always build the way adults do. We tend to like a plan and preferably one that ends with the thing looking vaguely like the picture. They're often much happier working it out as they go, free flowing creativity and no inhibitions.

The first idea is just the starting point
Sometimes children know exactly what they want to make, they might have it all worked out but at other times they start building and see what happens. A section moves or something gets added. One idea turns into another. The combination of modular play and children's imagination and creativity is where Funphix really comes to life. If their idea changes, the build can change with it, as many times as they like. They don't have to get it "right" the first time and there is no right and wrong, only fun.

And then they take it apart
Of course, there is another moment familiar to anyone who has built something with children. You finally finish, hurrah! Everyone is happy and you stand back to admire it. And a voice says: "Can we take it apart now?"
Possibly not the response you were hoping for, but with Funphix, taking a structure apart isn't really the end of it. The same pieces are ready to become something else. A climbing build can turn into a den. A den can disappear completely because someone has decided they need a car. That can last two days before another idea takes over.
Build it.
Play with it.
Change it.
Start again.
That's the fun of it.

There's always another version
Children change their minds all the time. What they want to play today may not be what they want tomorrow, and Funphix adapts with their ideas. The finished build isn't the destination, it's simply one version of what those pieces could become. And if they decide five minutes later that there's a better one? At least you know where the key is.
